Christopher K. Morgan is a choreographer, teacher, performer and arts facilitator who divides his time between New York and Washington DC. Said to be "charming and poignant" by Jennifer Dunning, The New York Times, his choreography has been presented internationally in Chile, Jordan, Israel, The Palestinian Territories, The United Arab Emirates, Germany, Lithuania, Poland, Ireland, Hong Kong, Mexico and national venues including Dance Theater Workshop and Joyce SoHo (New York City), Theater Artaud and CounterPulse (San Francisco), The Lansburgh Theater and The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (Washington DC).
In 2007, Morgan was named Choreographer in Residence and Rehearsal Director for Washington, DC based repertory dance company CityDance Ensemble (www. citydance.net). He continues to make work through his New York based pick up group Muse (www.musedance.org), which he founded in 2005. Morgan also directs The Dance Omi International Dance Collective (www.artomi.org) a 3-week process oriented, collaborative residency for professional dancer/choreographers that takes place annually in upstate New York.
Teaching credits include the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, Shawbrook (Ireland), Iwanson Schule (Munich), Stephens College (Missouri), Towson University (Maryland) and The Academy of Performing Arts (San Diego), lectures for the Alliance of Artist Communities, New York City Ballet’s Education Department and Dance Theater Workshop. Morgan recently served as panelist to the National Endowment for the Arts.
Performing credits include Liz Lerman Dance Exchange, Fabulous Beast Dance Theater (Ireland/UK), Malashock Dance & Co., Verb Ballets, Kevin Wynn, Shapiro & Smith, Selfish Shellfish (Germany), Pilobolus, and as a soloist with the Washington National, Houston Grand, and New York City Operas. He has been seen dancing beside Placido Domingo in the PBS Great Performances Production of Le Cid, and with Kate Winslet in the major motion picture Romance & Cigarettes.
